I was raised in the Adams 12 Five Star School District and am a proud graduate of Northglenn High School. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading from Metropolitan State College of Denver. In 2004, I earned a Masters Degree from The University of New England. Following my student teaching of 2nd grade students at Thornton Elementary, I was hired as a full time 2ndgrade teacher for 10 years. During this time I team taught a group of 50 students, hosted a student teacher, ran summer school programs, job-shared a classroom and worked collaboratively with Chapter 1 specialists. After Eagleview Elementary opened, I was hired and have taught 1st and 2nd grades for the past 19 years. I have hosted 3 more student teachers, served on a variety of committees, served as grade level chairperson, run many FLIGHT classes and completed many professional development trainings/classes. These teaching experiences allowed me to understand the developmental needs of students and provided me the opportunity to enhance effective instructional strategies. Along with teaching, I tutor K-8th grade students year round.
On a more personal note, I have three children. My boy/girl twins are 21 and my 17 year old son is a senior in Jefferson County Schools. We love to travel, attend concerts, camp and fish, and spend time with family and friends.
