I was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin but spent most of my childhood growing up in Arizona. I attended Portland State University and completed my bachelors degree in Speech Communications with an emphasis in communication disorders. From there I worked as a speech pathologist assistant focusing on assistive technology for grades K-12. I went on to complete my Masters in Teaching degree from Marylhurst University in Portland, OR and have taught preschool, kindergarten, and first grade. Within my teaching experiences I have enjoyed much growth that both challenged yet affirmed my passion for teaching. I find myself constantly in a mix of both awe and wonder of the things children are able to do.
My goal as a kindergarten teacher is to meet all my student's individual and collective needs on a developmentally appropriate level. This means as an educator I recognize that all children are quite unique in their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical abilities. I will honor where each student begins allowing for a pace they can learn best at. I am thrilled to be at Eagleview Elementary with so many amazing and skilled educators. My hopes for your child is that they learn to always try their best, care for others, ask questions, and discover that this world is a great place because they are in it!
When I am not teaching I tend to my other passion which is wellness. I teach children's yoga classes and run a children's yoga camp every summer in Bend, OR. I also teach therapeutic yoga classes for people with limited mobility, anxiety, and back pain. I love anything outdoors and spend many summers fly fishing and white water rafting with my husband in Oregon.
