EVE Update - November 2021
Dear Eagleview Families,
Happy November! November is the month of gratitude, and despite the challenges of the last 18+ months, I am incredibly grateful to serve this role as principal and have the opportunity to partner with you all to do the most important work in the world. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we continue to navigate the circumstances of still being in the midst of a pandemic.
We appreciate everyone who participated in the various events in October. We love being able to connect in meaningful ways with our community. From the movie night outside, to parent/teacher conferences, and ending the month with our Halloween festivities, each were great opportunities to make connections.
Mrs. Peterson and I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting classrooms to see students and teachers hard at work. As we are visiting the students we are asking questions such as:
What are you learning?
Why are you learning about that?
How will you know you have been successful?
It’s important students have clarity about what they are learning and are taking ownership of their learning to meet their individual goals. These are great questions that you can also use at home. The typical “How was school today?” is often met with simplistic answers such as “fine or good.” Probing for specificity and asking questions about the what and why promote greater understanding and it shows we have a genuine interest about how they are transferring their learning beyond the school day.
Thanks so much for your continuous support, and for working together to start off strong. If you have any comments, questions, feedback or compliments, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email at email@example.com.
Bianca Porter, Principal
